The NaturCulture for Liveable Ridge Landscapes project
The NaturCulture for Liveable Ridge Landscapes project aims to inform the public about the efforts to maintain biodiversity in the Erzgebirge/Vogtland Nature Park through outreach activities. The outreach project focuses on practical measures such as the care of mountain meadows and hedges, the rewilding of watercourses and moors, and the planting, cultivation, and care of orchard meadows with heritage fruit varieties. The project’s activities over the past few months include:

  • Leading guided walks, themed seminars and workshops;
  • Displaying information and activity booths for children at mountain meadow festivals;
  • Producing environmental education materials (mind maps);
  • Providing environmental education for children and young people.

The Natural Diversity in the Erzgebirge/Vogtland Nature Park project

Over the course of many centuries, human mining activities changed the landscape of our nature park. Adits, heaps, sinkholes, quarries, reservoirs and ditches were created, and nature adapted to the new conditions as they arose. Important new habitats developed filled with a huge number of different spe-cies. This project aims to bring these habitats to widespread public attention through a variety of measures:

  • Producing posters, flyers, an events calendar and a brochure;
  • Leading guided excursions;
  • Erecting information boards;
  • Implementing biotope conservation measures.
